  • Timing of the rivalry game

I spoke to someone today who said after this year the BYU-Utah game may be the first or second game of the season, perhaps the Saturday after Labor Day. To me that is just odd and will take some getting used to.

    LOL...
Didn't I hear something about Utah gaining a USC-ND type concession for its rivalry game? That didn't last long.

"We insist on maintaining the timing of our rivalry game!"
"Ok...you can play that every year. Just don't mess with our season. How about just making it a preseason game?"
    "Um...ok."
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Oh, snark, snark, snark. We don't know yet why the game might be played early or even if it will be. I was just saying I would miss having it as the last game of the season if what I heard is true.

Well you should have thought about that before you went off to play popularity contest with your new friends.

I'm sure my embrace will be met with a stiff shove to the chest, but I agree with you LA. Its going to be weird to see the Utes when both teams are still figuring their rosters out and nothing is really at stake yet. These last few years the stakes have been so high, at least for one of the teams, if not both.

They should just schedule BYU and Utah to play on conference championship weekend. The MWC doesn't have one and it's not like Utah is ever going to see what it is like to play in the Pac-10+2 conference championship game.

Just for this year. Starting in '11 Utah will have a BCS team.
