OK, that was strange. I just pulled it up on my DVR and forwarded through. There was an interview with Gavin Newsom and nothing else about Prop 8 and nobody ever mentioned Mormons.
For two days the CNN website had a little inset on their front page with a headline of "Mormon Might" with a picture of the Salt Lake Temple. It said something like "Despite making up just 2% of Californians, Mormons made the difference in the success of Prop 8."
Maybe Anderson decided to not run the story after a visit from some modern-day Danites (or maybe he's saving the story to run later).

Or maybe with such a small percentage of the population, he decided that Mormons were just actually just one of several factors in Prop. 8 passing and that if he wanted to maintain any journalistic integrity, he'd need to point out each and every group.

Mormon's made the difference. The NYT's said so...
Actually, I am not being glib, but I really believe that without the organized effort by the Church and its members (don't give me the crap that the Church didn't "organize" the effort - let's call a spade a spade and not get caught up in semantics) that Prop 8 would have failed. The money donated made it possible for the Prop 8 supporters to run crafty and well-done advertisements, and the door-to-door efforts by members of the Church probably persuaded alot of people who just didn't care beforehand. I don't believe that any other group was as important in the effort.

People have pointed out that the LDS made a large contribution both financially and via proselytizing the cause. However, isn't the LDS church the 4th largest denomination in the US? And I think it's safe to say it is the 3rd largest in the west, what with not all that many southen Baptists being west of Texas. It makes sense that from a religious standpoint, the LDS would make one of the largest impacts.
I'm not saying that Mormons weren't a big part of it. I'm just saying that Mormons were one of many reasons it passed.
For example, if the black community wasn't homophobic, Prop 8 wouldn't have passed.
