  • A bad day for Obama

A federal judge in New Orleans lifts the 6 month moratorium issued by President Obama. Supposedly, the injunction against the ban will probably hold up at the appeals level.

Then this McChrystal character spouts off to Rolling Stone about Obama, is summoned to the Oval Office and supposedly is now resigning. This guy is the head honcho in Afghanistan and he was Obama's guy (hell, he even voted for Obama), this isn't Bush's guy.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

What was the moratorium on? I haven't been paying attention today.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Against drilling in the gulf. Supposedly the judge ruled that it was overly broad and legal commentators have noted that it will likely be upheld by the appeals court.

So in one day, a federal judge slaps down a very public policy imposed by the Obama administration and Obama's hand-picked leader in Afghanistan has been talking crap about him and is apparently now resigning.

Of course the AP story didn't hesitate to report this about the judge:

"U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and has owned stock in a number of petroleum-related companies, sided with the plaintiffs."

It then goes on and says this:

"Feldman's financial disclosure report for 2008, the most recent available, shows holdings in at least eight petroleum companies or funds that invest in them, including Transocean Ltd., which owned the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig that blew up. The report shows that most of his holdings were valued at less than $15,000; it did not provide specific amounts."

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that this judge didn't recuse himself from this case due to the fact that his Wilshire 5000 index fund has holdings in some oil and gas companies. He stood to lose tens of dollars.

This is the first good news I've heard since Obama took office.

He's having a tough time convincing people who think for themselves to trust that he has any idea about what he's doing.

And it is not getting any better today.. The ineptitude of this Administration is showing once again. Looks like they will be halting work on the sand berms in the Gulf.

I didn't know the President of the United State made specific policy decisions for the Fish and Wildlife Department now. Good to know.

I don't know if this is being discussed in any other thread but McChrystal is a seasoned pro. There is zero chance in my mind that he goes to Rolling Stone and says what he does not knowing the likely outcome. Hard to know why he would do it but it doesn't even sound like he is trying to be a whistle blower or to persuade the public. If he gets fired he is going to become a very wealthy man when he writes he book then starts doing speaking engagements. Perhaps he is at a point where he doesn't think anything more can be done in Afghanistan and he wants to cash in. Not sure what else to make of it. At a minimum it shows poor judgment on his part.

Then again, if he is contrite, perhaps Obama gives him a public woodshedding then says "get your ass back there and keep working."

Two more bad news (Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?? I am sure that is what Obama is thinking). As POTUS, all things get laid at your feet. Even if you you have no control over it..

Containment gap removed due to accident..

The POTUS is the man in charge. Therefore, he is ultimately responsible. Onbama was vastly unqualified when he was elected and it's showing more and more each day just how unqualified and incompetent he is.
