Maybe he is building up his method acting routine to play a late Howard Hughes? But more likely than not, drugs. What kind of drugs mess you up like that? He can't stop bobbling around his head, and he is keeping his eyes all covered up.... pretty damn poor showing. Hope he makes it through.

Which is usually what a legitimate publicist would do....immediately release a statement to the press confirming that your boss is having a real meltdown and wanting to become a rapper.

Yep and it was done prior to Rubin and Ed. The Letterman appearance was 4 years before Rubin and Ed was released. My guess is that the Rubin character in Rubin and Ed was Glover's own creation. Also, Rubin and Ed is a great movie.

I think Phoenix doing it was an act...there is NO WAY that Letterman was in on it. That is not the way he does it. Letterman was great in it though and I love how Letterman doesn't put up with the crap.
