  • Who gets to a BCS bowl first?

Assuming this goes down and Utah goes to the PAC-12, which of these teams is least likely to make a BCS bowl in 2011 or later?

    BYU
    Utah
    TCU
    BSU

I'd put Utah at the bottom of that list.

Does it really matter, since BYU would have to get to two of them just to pull even? Also, your post seems to indicate that Utah is most likely to get to a BCS game, since they are at the bottom of the "least likely" list.

My point is who is in ultimately the better position long-term. BYU in an increasingly competitive MWC on its way to an auto-bid (even without Utah IMO) or Utah in the PAC-10 having to contend with SC, Oregon, UCLA, et al.

Competitively speaking of course, not financially.

So is utah the most or least likely?

                In this order:

                BSU
BYU (assuming they don't go to the big 12-2 any time in the next 4 or 5 years)
                TCU
Utah (will be fighting for a while to just stay off the bottom half of the Pac)

I know you've alluded to this but I must have missed the actual thread ... my bad.

Boise has the best shot of the 4 with Kellen Moore in 2011 and 2012. TCU graduates Dalton and will be breaking in a new QB in 2011. Presumably Heaps will be a 2nd year starter, so if Boise has to go to Provo that could be tough.

If Wynn continues to make strides, Utah could definitely be in play in 2012, his senior year.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of recruiting bumps or dips happen as a result of the various moves of Boise to the MWC or Utah to the Pac-12, that could have an impact especially for Utah if they can get guys that can come in and play right away.

I agree with this. BSU is going to be ranked so high to start the season, even with a close loss @(I know, neutral field) VT, they could be the first 1 losser to get in. BYU is in trouble and wont make an undefeated run for a while. TCU could do it this year as well. I have no guess with Utah. If they end up in the PAC south, I would say they are 2 years away from challenging for PAC's spot.
