    So a test for Utah/BYU fans...

    Here is a test. Multiple choice. Please expound on your answers if you so choose:

    Question #1

    Which of these two teams listed have the larger fan base in the Salt Lake County/Utah County Region?

    A. University of Utah
    B. Brigham Young University

    Question #2

    Which of these two teams teams have the larger fan base in the State of Utah?

    A. University of Utah
    B. Brigham Young University

    Question #3

    Which of these two teams has a larger fan base Nationally?

    A. University of Utah
    B. Brigham Young University

    Essay Question:

    Take into account the two Universities listed in questions 1-3. Which one of these Universities control the television market in the State of Utah? And why? (You can even go micro and macro if needs be to drill down to smaller counties. To those of you from Carbon County...please have someone help you with the pencil sharpener.)

      My bad...Helper is in Carbon. Those dudes wouldn't have figured that out though. Thanks for pointing it out. Will edit to reflect.

        So to bump this thread...

        If Utah is accepted into the PAC1? tomorrow, as reported by our own Chip Brown (UtahDan), answer me this..

        (And thanks to IPU for being the only one to take the test)

        I can't see why the PAC1? is so excited in taking the 2nd rated, 2nd followed, 2nd fan base team and say that they are capturing the Salt Lake Market.

        That is like telling everyone that you are dating a Kardashian. But not telling anyone it is the fat ugly one.

        I am just confused. I see Utah and BSU as the same. BSU doesn't even own their own TV market.

          Boise St and Utah are good comparisons when it comes to fan base and market penetration. Utah owns 1/3 of a market that's probably three times Boise's. Colorado's probably about the same too. They own 1/6 of a market that's twice Utah's. If Boise were a research institution, they would have been a coin toss. But in the end, Pac just needed two schools to expand to get a championship game.

                Right, because nothing ever changes, and there is no reason to think that a BCS team would have more appeal than a mid-major.

                  You make it sound like only Ute fans will be watching the games. People watching out of bitterness and spite are still watching.

                          Incidentally the SUV parked in front of me here at the Oquirr Hills Temple has the license UFANS 3. I guess the rumors are true.
