  • USC 2 year post season ban/loses schollies

Matt Barkley is probably livid right now, he could lead USC to an undefeated record and no bowls whatsoever. This might be the beginning of the end.

    I bet USC appeals, though.

Mighty Oregon rises to the top of the Pac 8 division! I wonder who they will get in a few years when they fire Kiffin?

The Big 12 teams are going to dominate the Pac 10. I don't think I will ever understand this. This is like the WAC taking over the MWC. The PAC 10 has exactly one team that has a prayer of beating Texas, and they are about to start a rapid decline with the upcoming sanctions. This is a bad move all the way around. LET NEBRASKA GO!!!! They suck anyway. So does Colorado.

Are those the only penalties? Are there more to come?

One report just came through Twitter that it could be up to 20 scholarships.

They are forced to have Lane Kiffin as coach for 3+ years also, perhaps the stiffest penalty.

Rumor is also circulating that they must vacate 2004 wins.

bluehair I know to be a good BYU fan you have to believe the P10 sucks, but life goes up and down. Washington isn't going to be awful forever, for the entire 90's when the B12 was formed Washington would have dominated Oklahoma, Texas and A&M that are now joining the league. Cal is better than they have been in generations, Stanford has maybe one of the 10 best coaches in college football. Oregon is a top 20 program.

I am not predicting the B12 schools are going to wither and die, I think they might find out that even 0-12 Washington is hard to beat for 10 win teams.

The LA Times has a story up now too. They confirm the two-year bowl ban and say it's more than 20 football scholarships lost.

              Funny:

Asked if the sanctions were appropriate, a source said, "It depends how you look at it. It is if you're a UCLA fan."

No stripping USC of it's fake national championship? No yanking them off tv for a few seasons? Pete Carroll gets off scot free?

How do you vacate wins from 2004? That was six years ago. What impact will it have on ANYTHING now? It's more like window dressing to make it appear really, really harsh. That's it. Nothing more.

This seems pretty harsh to me. Ouch.

Rumor is that there will be penalty free transfers for juniors and seniors from USC, if that is true then this might set back USC 5+ years. I wonder if this will affect Kaveinga retroactively and make him eligible this year, might have to rethink those mission plans if he is our 2010 starter

Wow, expansion talk concludes and immediately another hot issue appears for Utefans and CB to go nuts over. Keveinga decides to stay and play!

The UW is poised to make a big jump with all the issues down south. Also, what's Slick Rick and Chow thinking tonight?

                            No kidding.

And Petey skates. I think they should punish him by assessing a 2-year penalty on any NCAA school that ever attempts to hire him in the future. Teach him to escape to the NFL when the cookie crumbles.

I am stunned. Ohio State and the Clarett fiasco was a slap on the wrist and USC gets almost a Bama type penalty.. WOW...

Was USC cooperative?? Methinks by this penalty they were not...
