Previously it was all a burgundy color. Going with a red up top and wainscoting below.

    New trim for both windows:

    Now for the wainscoting:

    And the trim...

    Almost finished the trim tonight.
And, sadly, my wife thinks she might want a different color red........

After the picture frame trim is in, we're putting a 2" ledge on top of the uppermost 5" board, and a small piece of crown underneath. Pictures as I get there....
    I intend to live forever.
    So far, so good.

As usual, great work Brian. You keep producing this quality of work and Surfah is going to distribute the "Brian is my carpenter" bumper stickers to all of CUF.

sorry bout this, but I would change the red too. Make it more scarletty, like a power red. Really close to what you already have.

lol. she knows they have paint testers, right?

she might want to move a different direction altogether. I'm a big fan myself, but burgundies and crimsons are sort of trending out.

No offense Brian, but why does everyone want red on their walls? When you watch any HGTV type show (specifically House Hunters) people are always adding a red "accent" wall. And its always some "power" red, as Katy described it.

Personally, I can't stand red walls. Sucks all the light out of the room. Nice wainscoting though!

Just about done. Caulk a few seams and some touch up paint.

One more molding along the top.

And a little shelf on top to finish it off.

Here's a side view that shows all the pieces.

Next stop, laying down some wood floors.

I love the trim work. I may have to try that in my dining room.

We used to have a red dining room too when we lived in St. Louis. I wish we would have had some nice trim work like you've done though. Ignore the picture on the wall - it was a place holder while we looked for something we liked.

I sure hope you returned it to the Holiday Inn you swiped it from.

Did you replace it with wallpaper like this?
