  • Should the MWC share BCS Revenue

If we can get passed expansion for the moment,

Last season the agreement between the 5 non auto qualifying conferences expired. In June they will meet to work out a new deal for sharing BCS revenue and I am wondering if the MWC shouldn't just say take a hike, further distancing itself from the non aq conferences.

I don't think they should at all. Your conference gets a team in the BCS, you get the money.

Not anymore. The stakes, and $ discrepancy is too large. In this cut throat world...you have to look out for your own. I say it stays in conference from now on.

I'd have to say no, just because if you look at a history of what the bowls are, they're basically just a post season game for the major conferences to send their champs to.

I'd like the NCAA to step up and bust open the situation, with a playoff where they control the contracting and the revenue distributions or even just to administer a bowl-like post season like we have now. I hate the way conferences and bowl entities run things now.

edit: nvm I misunderstood the question.

Maybe BYU should be in a "conference of one" [aka. independent], like Notre Dame, especially if Utah goes to the PAC-10+2. This way Utah can still play BYU every year so they don't suffer the shame of losing to a lesser MWC team.

As for your question... Yes, the independent BYU can share all the BCS bowl money with its conference or not, depending how you would like to look at it.

If nothing else, they should re-negotiate the percentages. Aren't the MWC and the WAC the only non-AQ conferences to send teams to BCS games?
