I believe Whit is doing the right thing, but I am curious what happened that caused him to change his mind about waiting for the legal process to play out before he made this decision.

Hopefully those administrators in Utahs honor code office will preach forgiveness and let him back in school!

I believe that any coach/school should always wait to get all the facts before making a decision to pull a scholarship of a recruit - unless of course the recruit allegedly commits an egregious crime.

If I were to guess, KW waited to make this decision because the kid wasn't currently enrolled in school at the U. By waiting to see how the legal process worked out, he could make a better informed decision about Shreve's scholarship and in doing so, he learned that it really was as bad as it first sounded, as the kid has a court date scheduled.

Had the kid been enrolled at the U and officially on the team, a coach can suspend first and ask questions later, because he has more responsibility for the players' actions, if that makes sense.

He was never going to make it to Utah anyway. If he's drafted in the second round as expected, he's gone to baseball. That's always been his first choice.

I agree. I think this helped KW make his decision.

I'd think twice about charging the mound on this kid. Sounds like he's itchin' the throw down.

I was thinking he meant he was going to wait until the courts made a ruling, but that makes sense that the fact that they had enough evidence to file charges and take it to trial would be enough for Kyle to make a decision.

I doubt this has much to do with the criminal charges. He's probably not academically qualified.

Sounds like he was going to play baseball and surpass college, if drafted decently anyway.

“Tyler will not be a member of our football team this fall,” Whittingham said. “We have laid out specific guidelines and expectations that Tyler will need to follow in order for him to receive reconsideration to join our program in January.”

Two sentences. Clear language. Direct. Pretty amazing.

On the upside for cougjunkie's love life, plenty of the 2010 class already headed towards never stepping foot on campus at the U.

I had successfully forgotten about them until now. Thanks a lot. Possibly the worst band ever for getting their songs stuck in your head.

Typical BYU SU bullshit. Kid goes somewhere else so assassinate his character. Bronco SU must be giving advice to Rose.
