  • BYU finishes game on a 28-5 run.........

Wow what a great run, they were down 45-43 with 7 minutes left and end up winning 71-50.

The big 3 all had great games tonight. Jimmer had 20, JT had 17 and 7 and Lee had 12,10 and 5.

They were really stinking the place up there for 30 minutes.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yep...they cranked it up a notch or two in the final minutes.

BYU basketball scares me though...I've never seen a team so hot and cold. They can score 40 points in the blink of an eye...but, they can also go more stone cold than any team I have ever watched.

You never know what you will see when they take the court.

The lack of post scorers hurts. Saying that one thing that was good about today is this...best to play your shitiest games against your worst opponents. Why didn't BYU play its poor second half against WYO and limp away with a 9 point win instead of its poor second half against UNLV? Last year the Cougars were very fortuitous when they played poorly. This year, not so much as when the dust settles that UNLV game is going to hurt a lot.

The beauty of this venue is nobody here really believed BYU was better without Trent Plaisted.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I see the same problem with this team as with most good BYU teams of the recent past. They tighten up in close games against tournament level opponents. Jimmer has been great this year, but when it's close and tight, you seem him make bad decisions with the ball and brick free throws. Cummard has a really hard time getting off good shots against athletes in the late minutes because he's so frail. I still don't see a guy who will hit daggers when the game is on the line; when you need a bucket in the tournament. Usually you dump it in to your bigs to get those late/easy baskets, but Miles is such a liability at the line and has such bad hands, that it's tough to trust him off penetration when his man goes to help. JT has the confidence for sure, but takes way too many off-balance long jumpers (well...set shots). I would still give the ball to Jimmer when I need a basket, but it's tough to expect a sophomore to deliver a tournament win.

This team is better than I expected after hearing Plaisted was leaving, but I don't see why these guys get that tournament win we've all been waiting for since the 90s.

I was just happy to see Lee make his first one and one free throw in his last 25 attempts.

Me too. He's not been "Mr. Clutch" as of late.
