  • When would you want to see the Holy War played?

Assuming that within the next few years BYU and Utah are not in the same conference when would you want to see the rivalry game played?

I don't see why either team would want it the last week of the year anymore, especially if one or both has the potential of a conference championship game to prepare for the following week.

I think it should either be week 1, or perhaps always played the Friday night before General Conference. That could be a cool quirk to the rivalry and give it some national attention as the big game of the weekend.

Is BYU going to agree to the 2 for 1 series that Utah is going to ask for? Maybe they could just sign long contracts like a 10-5 series. The Pac-12 has that kind of leverage you know.

Kidding aside, I would love a late September, early October game. Weather perfect and grilling for the big game. That would make me happy.

Pac-10 refs introduced into the Holy War. Yikes.

Fortunatly we only give those contracts to winning teams. So when Utah ends up in the WSU/ASU section of the standings we may give them a 1-2 contract. Maybe.

I would assume the Pac-12 teams would love to see Utah keep its traditional late November date. That way it's one less cold weather game for the rest of them.

When was the last time a Pac 10 conference game was played below 45 degrees?

I'm trying to remember if Cal every played Stanford at Candlestick Park. Other than that, I suspect Washington State has hosted a few nasty ones, but that's about it.

For those who aren't familiar with Pullman, imagine an uglier Rexburg.

Seattle can get that cold in November.

I'd rather not play it anymore. It really would not benefit us as we would have to go to the Boise State model if we were left in the MWC-one or two mid level opponents a year-and playing them every year would not be all that much fun.
And it would be a very tough out of conference game if we were in the Big 12 which would be tough enough so we would be better off scheduling down.

They could very well keep it as is and the PAC would accommodate.

In even numbered years, SC usually plays Notre Dame in the Coliseum around Thanksgiving weekend. In odd numbered years, the teams meet in South bend in October.
                        Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Besides Pullman, I would imagine it gets below 45 all the time at OSU and UW in November. The average high temperature in Seattle in November is 52. Portland is the same, so the same thing probably applies to Corvallis and Eugene.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

It's hard to imagine it anywhere other than the last weekend in November. Having it the Friday before Conference would probably be my 2nd choice. That's a fun idea.
