This should be some fodder for the Ute fans to spout off a plenty about that 2008 season and how jealous BYU is...

Should I be saying "The Utes are just so amazing, we are just excited to be mentioned with them" to myself?

JJ,

This is a place where 99.9% of Utah and BYU fans get along.

Here is a cliff notes version...

Mr. Crimson likes to agitate, but is harmless.
USS something...hit and run Utah fan, hasn't figured it out yet. But we are fasting for him collectively this next month.
Cougjunkie...loved by all, but loves to agitate Utah fans.
SeattleUte likes to prognosticate, but he is a milder form of himself nowadays...

Please work on helping our cause, not hurting it.

I completely agree.

First time people show up here they start acting crazy. Then they figure it out and it is really chill.

I liken it to a puppy....

Puppies are great, everyone loves a new pet. But then it takes a dump and pees everywhere. Jumps around and acts crazy.

6 months later....spay or neuter the damn thing...

The puppy is still cool, but it is now really really mellow.

lol Why hasn't BYU been recognized? Because it hasn't gone undefeated, finished in the top 5, or played any post season game other than weenie bowls.

BYU football and BYU basketball are the same. neither is the real deal. That's why they're not recognized. They don't deserve to be.

BTW, Utes don't care about what blogs say. They care about records.

Utah' s record looks amazing if you only look at the 2004 and 2008 seasons." There are a lot of 4 and 5 loss seasons and a couple of "weenie bowls" you might want to account for.

I thought about this awhile back. I can still recall the exhilaration of sitting in the Superdome as we ran all over Alabama during the first quarter. The memory of that game will be cherished and recalled for a long time. Not when talking smack, not when discussing things casually, but when i am talkign with my wife, brother and SIL. I will gladly take that experience even every 10 years in exchange for finishing 3rd in other years(as long as we field a competitive team each year).

Why shouldn't I? Whether they were the best team or not is irrelevant to the voting. The debate for BYU in 1984 is whether they were the best team or whether they "deserved it". Similar arguments are made with Colorado in 1991 and others, but in the end, they have the trophy.

Utah has finished 3rd or worse in the MWC four of the last five seasons. Even during the 2002 to 2005 down years, BYU never did that poorly.

TCU not joining the conference until 2005 might have had something to do with that.

I don't think that is a fair assessment. I can see how one could come to the conclusion of picking either scenario. However, if you were to ask the players, I wonder which they would choose.

5 Vegas Bowl appearances vs 1 Sugar Bowl appearence.

3 bowl wins vs 5

2 MWC titles vs 1.

Yep, it's a tough call.

so... in a comparison between byu and utah, a team they both have to play's presence changes the fact that byu has consistently finished above the u in conference standings? i'm not sure i see why tcu would have anything to do with that in a world where both teams play them every season.

You always lead with your chin, go for the capillary. Please don't engage them on their terms. Seriously, 2004 and 2008 are all that matter.

This is the comment I was responding to:

In a comparison of the Utah 2005-2009 and BYU 2002-2005, TCU being in the conference during every year of one period but not every year in the other could be seen to be relevant. BYU of 2002-2005 only had to play TCU once. Utah 2005-2009 played TCU five times.

You need an Ambien? If you are going to stay up late, might as well jump on MW2.

Lysis is a medical term that means rupture or split, so I would guess they are synonyms :)

I could use an Ambien. I am a night person. I would jump on but my old man is sleeping on the couch where my xbox is. He is running with us tomorrow. I am going to call it night in a minute though.

Comes from the Greek " λύω." It means to loosen, undo, dissolve, or destroy. With the prefix "ἀνα", it means to break down. Which is what you do with information: you analyze it, meaning, you break it down and study it bit by bit. Isn't learning fun?
