  • Too early to talk 2011 football schedule?

    As of now, BYu has confirmed

    @Oregon State
    @Austin
    Utah State (home)

    We were originally slated to play @Army in 2011. Has that since been canceled?

    I assume so. If not, we are playing 7 road games and 5 home games in 2011?

    Probably a home game against the Pac 12's Utah Utes. The fact that the slot hasn't been filled is VERY telling.

    Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

      Much to my chagrin (since West Point is about 100 miles away), the Army series has been canceled. AFAIK, BYU still is searching for another OOC game.

        That will be a really good schedule. Wish the Oregon St. or Texas game was a home game, but it is the odd year and we get the better MWC teams at home, so the home schedule will be good.

              What will you do this time when they announce another directional Louisiana school is the 4th team for 2011?

                I will be fine. You have AFA, TCU, Utah, CSU coming to town from the conference. Four out of six isn't bad. I will only be giving away tickets to two games. I figure if the give away ratio is lower than 50%, I am OK with the home schedule.

                The overall schedule will be solid with a Texas and OSU. I have never bitched about playing a hack school if the rest of the schedule is good.

                  I am torn. It does seem that next year's schedule is shaping up nicely, although would have been nice to have either OSU or Texas at home, instead of both on the road. As it stands, BYU will likely fill the fourth OOC slot with a lower-tier opponent, giving us Utah State and another crappy school on our home schedule. Not exactly inspiring. And CSU sucks. Those games haven't been good since the Sunshine years. The TCU and Utah games are really the only 2 "good" home games as of right now. Admittedly, a lot can happen next season, and overall, that lineup you mentioned is the better home draw, as compared to UNLV, SDSU, New Mexico, and Wyoming (how awful..I can never fully digest how terrible that conference lineup seems)

                    It's amazing how much more vested you seem in Cougar football since Pete moved north.

                      Actually I am just in the process of dealing with the season tickets, so it has been on my mind this past week or two. The home schedule drives the market value of the season tickets and 2011 isn't really a great home schedule....it might wind up being such, but as for now, it is only average.

                      I'm way more excited for SC's schedule....road trip to Hawaii with the Mrs., home games vs Kal, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Sark's return to the Coliseum.

                        Fun! The Sooners have a schedule of similar caliber with Utah State and Air Force at home. Charging $700 for the season lineup this year.

                          This reminds me of some of my great arguments on CB. Indy the valiant, leading the charge that the schedule didn't have an effect on the value of tickets.

                            I'm assuming that DDD is referring to the secondary market value of tickets.

                              The secondary market is a better indicator of real value.

                              It will be interesting to see this year. If DDD can sell his tickets at face and if the games are all sold out, I will be happy to say you were always right. The demand "is" so strong for BYU football that they can throw any opponent out there against them and people will pay.
