Came across this by accident today.

Actually, a very cool song. Saw these guys at the Edge in Provo around 1996 - great show. Notice the Randy Reid haircuts...

Sweet. I was at that show. I love TOB.

I saw them in SLC in 89 or 90 and have seen them a few times in LA since law school grad.

Just this past weekend my wife and I were running errands and listening to Beneath the Rhythm and Sound....sublime, crash, the relatives, either/or, etc...

If you saw The Ocean Blue at the Palladium in Sugarhouse with Matthew Sweet and The Mighty Lemon Drops, then it was Feb. of '90.

      BTW, excellent choice, Venkman.

I think I was at that show too. Rude, I don't remember either of you talking to me.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'd never heard of them until that Provo show (back in the late 80's/early 90's I only rocked with KBER). I did recognize a couple songs that they played but I didn't know they were the artist until the show. Needless to say, I freaking loved it. Went out and bought all of their CD's. Beneath the Rhythm and Sound is still one of my favorites.

Sorry 'bout that. I suppose I could have told my then wife to be in a few weeks that I would have been talking to "just a friend".

KBER, eh? Do you remember a DJ named Corey?

That was Corey Draper, a friend of mine.

Corey was a good guy. Not sure what ever happened to him.

Yes, vaguely, I think. Bands from my time that I remember:

                          Honeytree
                          Sunfall Festival
                          The Shriners
                          Thee Martinis
                          Anyone for Squash

Some other band that I thought sucked but I went to their shows anyway because their drummer was cute.

At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

So true TOB story. I was at the Troubadour to see them play somewhere around 2004. For those that have never been, the Troubadour is like DV8....fits maybe 100 people? Tiny. David Schelzel introduces the next song something along these lines...."You all will know this one...it isn't ours...it is a Billy Idol song and I love Billy Idol..." He goes into a rather cool solo acoustic cover of Eyes Without a Face. After the song is over, everyone applauds very enthusiastically.

Since it was an accoustic, there is a gap for the band to come back out and the roadies to bring back the electric guitar. It was about a 5 second gap, max and it was very quiet. I was about 15 feet away and yelled to him, "Play White Wedding!" Everyone laughed, including the band. David responds to me, "We might have you draw up our setlist for the next show." The line was funny only because of the timing, really, but I can say that I successfully heckled a band at a show, even getting an individual response.
