  • Roderick not going to UDUB?

David Locke is reporting right now that Roderick is not going to UDUB. Anyone know what is up?

He said Ian Fernes (SP) just texted him about this.

Locke is now saying he is returning to Utah to be the WR coach. Says it has to do with Family. He is also saying he will not be the one calling plays.

Roderick's wife: "It cost what to buy a house near campus or on the other side of the lake?" "Baby, let's go back to Utah. I miss my family already."

WTF? Honestly, why would you take him back? This is a serious question.

Mitt Romney or John Kerry would take him back.

Just so I have this correctly:

First, he gets offered a promotion/raise at the U. Accepts and then turns it down for no promotion/way more money at UW. Then for some reason he crawls back to KW for old job and presumably old salary.

Can exie tell me why I should be concerned that this drama queen isn't coaching at the Y?

I'll take him back. He's a helluva recruiter.

Dont you think he loses a little credibility after all of this? Depending obviously on his reasoning for returning.

Ha. It's funny that Fernes and Locke still text each other. Ian is always talking s' about Locke on air.

Credibility with who? Recruits? Parents of recruits? Other coaches? Fans? For me, he doesn't lose credibility because I look at it as people are people and do what they need to do.

Whatever his reason - and I hope folks are just kidding that it's all about his wife, as we don't really know that - I'd rather have him as a coach at Utah than at Washington.

The article BO posted said his wife leaving her assistant coaching position at Utah had something to do with it. (She is the womens soccer assistant coach). But he was also scheduled to make 200k a year at UW. So say a kid has Arod as his main recruiter, he gets attached to him, Roderick cant promise that kid that he will be here for 4 years. I think continuity is important for a kid when he is making his college choice. Face it he is committing to the coaching staff as much if not more so than he is to the University.

Someone posted a recap of his interview on 1320, and it sounded like he'd rather be at Utah. It could still be because of his wife, obviously, but yes, she was on the staff for the soccer team.
