  • Favorite Sci-Fi Movie of All-Time

Sorry to take this from the person who was doing this before.

    Mine:
Star Wars (any of them...even pod-racing Jar Jar Episode One)
    Men in Black
    Star Trek: TNG movies
    Minority Report
    Fifth Element

I know I have others, but I'm blanking on them right now.

None of the above. Is Independence Day sci-fi? I pick that if it is.

All of them? The only good thing about Generations was that Kirk died (I couldn't believe people left crying). Insurrection was just boring. First Contact, however, was awesome.
        Not that, sickos.

First Contact was the one I was primarily thinking about. I think the last two TNG movies came out around my birthday, and I got pulled out of school to have lunch and see the last one with my parents, so that's why I enjoyed them more than I probably should have.

The one coming out in 2009 looks pretty good.

Childhood favorites were Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the first one) and Invaders from Mars. Somewhat more recently, I liked Alien and Aliens; the former was probably the better film, but the latter had some great lines. "Game over man, game over. Maybe you're not up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked." Pretty much everything Hudson says is funny.

As a junior in high school, I feigned a love of 2001: A Space Odyssey, as it seemed so deep and I wished to appear cerebral. Now, it just seems overly ponderous, although visually it's still one of the great ones. I watched it for the first time in an SF theater where many in the audience were tripping on acid; the Jupiter landing scene, with the light show, sent the crowd into an entertaining freakout.

I've got some questions for you:

At what point in our society do we evolve from wearing space/jump suits on missions to business suits? And why?

How is Ethan Hawke's character not a bloody skinless mess?

These are the things that keep me awake at night. Odd considering I've only seen that movie once.
There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

Tila Tequila and Juggalos, America’s saddest punchline since the South.

                        Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
                        Today is Friday, Friday (Partyin’)

                        Tomorrow is Saturday
                        And Sunday comes afterwards

Sorry, but that ain't me. That's my zoob living brother.

My costume has red lights. Just like the districts.

                            Simple. Pressurized space capsules.

That's part of what was cool about that movie. The retro styles for clothing, cars, computers, etc.

maybe not the most popular pick, but I really liked 'Contact.'
