I never heard of the Smithson thing. Granted I don't follow Idol like Gidget or say Creekster, but I don't think that anyone who was signed previously should be allowed to participate.

I just think it means even American Idol doesn't know what American Idol's supposed to be. Is it an amateur competition? Is it giving anyone a chance at stardom? Is it (really) a music vehicle (see Taylor Hicks)?

They can do whatever they want as far as I'm concerned. It's not like they have credibility to blow.

There was some other chick either last year or the year before. Maybe 2 people. It has happened before.

Also is this new judge nothing more than trading in Paula for a new one. Similar look, younger, firmer, spunkier. Isn't that why most people trade in at 40 or so?

with about 2 or 3 exceptions, American Idol seems to be a longer, slower way to get to Branson, Missouri. Or cruise ships.

Good news today: No more Joanna Pacitti. Despite the fact that all along her manager has been part of 19 Entertainment (besides that she never at any point sang well in Hollywood), it took the conflict of interest being in the news every day this week before someone said it's time to end the charade of just buying her screen time in hopes her career just might happen. "Due to conflict of interest" she's out and someone else I completely cannot remember is in. I was afraid a couple of rounds with her might be wrist-splitting worthy (as though I forget there's a FF button on the remote and I never again have to pretend she has talent I'm just not seeing).

That is great news. Now we need to get rid of gay drama boy and psycho girl, and it's smooth sailing.

I am glad Pacitti is out, she forgot the words on every single song during hollywood week. Nobody else gets a free pass like that.

The gay drama kid and that fat chick with the annoying laugh both need to go.

The only time I ever watched the show was when Sanjaya was on. The vote for the worst website almost got him into the final 3, I think I even voted a few times for him.

One of the funniest things I've ever heard was when Paula Abdul requested to be boarded first on a Southwestern Airlines flight that year when Sanjaya was on the show and someone, a hero of mine, yelled out "you're no Sanjaya, you'll have to board like everyone else."

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

There were actually quite a few who forgot words but still got a pass. A Utah girl for one and that black dude with the major fro for another.

There were quite a few that forgot words at times, but not that forgot words to all 4 songs they sang during Hollywood week. Which she did.

I'm just thinking of Simon's apparently idle threat from the first Hollywood day, that if you forgot any words, you were gone.

Speaking of AI, am I alone in thinking that the girl from Sandy is smokin' hot? She's got a very pretty face and puts off a good girl vibe, but her Tommy Lee-like tattoo arm shows she can be naughty when it's called for. Rowrr!

I hate tats but I find her attractive. I wonder if her background is LDS. When she auditioned the family around her looked like they had been plucked straight out of Relief Society and Primary.

She definitely is. Within 60 seconds of the spotlight clip you could pretty much guess her life story. Raised strict LDS, rebelled big time in her teens and barely graduated HS. A year later she's living with her boyfriend and finds herself pregnant. She gets married, has the baby and discoveres how unprepared they were for a family. Meanwhile he continues his juvenile ways. Over the next year she draws closer to her family and further from him. They're divorced soon after and she ends up with a nursery calling as she is received back in full fellowship.

I wonder if our resident LDSSingle.com goers have ever seen this scenario play out.

I'm one of those although my membership isn't paid up. I've seen it several times. I'm not sure if I could date someone with that sleeve no matter how hot the rest of her was. Tats are a major turnoff for me. Depending on where they are one or two tats aren't a deal breaker. One thing I can't stomach is a tattoo on a girls rack.
