I guess SU was right, Utah had no history before 1994.

Man, when I think college football prestige, I find myself saying often, "If only we could be more like Clemson."

Parade route for second place.......leave main campus, go down Jefferson, pass Fig, go over the 110 overpass and parade can end by the small parking lot near the corner of Broadway.

everyone can walk back to campus from there.

Five (was it four or five, Halley?) years ago Utah wasn't even on this chart. BYU fans should be alarmed that Utah is closing the gap fast.

It should as well be alarming to BYU fans that Utah is now making a case for a better recruiting year than BYU, even though this is considered one of BYU's best. Regardless of who's is really better (we may never know) Utah football vis-a-vis BYU football used to be like SC and Cal in terms of recruiting. If Utah football and BYU football were publically traded companies I know which one I'd be buying and which I'd be staying away from.

Why would we be alarmed? Good rivalry football and good conference competition is good for fans, future recruiting, and pretty much all around. I'll leave my Valium on the shelf.

Because it is to a large extent a zero sum game between these two programs. Utah is taking from BYU's rice bowl, though the field from wich Utah can draw players and coaching talent is much broader.

So it sounds like BYU is drinking Utah's milkshake?

After seeing the players Utah has on their team, particularly on defense, compared to BYU, I'm wondering if BYU really won all those February championships at all.

I feel bad that other schools don't have the tradition of Utah. I was thinking of the top 43 schools in the country...and the difference between #1 and say, #43 is so slight, but holy crap, the difference between a school, lets say, #43 and anything lower, like #45 is HUGE!

It truly is a case of haves (#1 thru #43) and the have nots (anything higher than #44). I feel bad for all of those schools.

Also, as a sidenote...worst college football prestige? Vanderbilt. That is awesome.

At least Vandy won its bowl game.

It is fun to live in the past sometimes, isn't it?

ESPN correctly noted another distinction that BYU has over Utah:

"BYU has never had a 'major' bowl win by our standards. When the Cougars won the national title in 1984, it came after a Holiday Bowl win."
