Essentially a brand new furnace. If my house is at 60 degrees and I set the thermostat to 65 it will heat the house to that temperature and afterwards blow air until I manually flip the switch on the furnace itself, any ideas what it might be?

I'm no expert, but you could check the filter. If it's dirty, it will play games with your furnace.
How big is the room where your thermostat is located? In our first house, the thermostat was in the largest room in the house and it seemed to take a lot longer for it to turn off the furnace when the desired temp was reached. In this house, the thermostat is in a smaller area (the hallway) and it seems to get to the desired temp more quickly. I don't know if that means anything, but to my non-mechanical brain, that makes sense."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

I'll change the filter right now. Thanks for that tidbit."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

We've had this happen twice in our place (built 2004). Both times it was a bad relay that made the fan keep blowing. So the heat would shut off but the fan would keep going. The second time, I had the electrician (I don't do electrical, other than switch out a fixture or something) put in a more expensive, more reliable model. That was 3 years ago and works dandy.Originally posted by fusnik View PostJust changed the filter, it was dirty, not as dirty as it has been I'll give it a test run tomorrow."More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

I need to check the relay on mine. That damn blower seems like it never stops. Thank you for the tip.Originally posted by Solon View PostWe've had this happen twice in our place (built 2004).
