  • Garage Shelving

I'll try to post some pics later but today was garage day for us. Cleaned everything out and built heavy duty shelving out of 2x4's and OSB. Bought lumber for a total of 3 8' x 7' x 2' shelves but only ended up building 2 of the 8' and one 4'. But I have lumber left for another 4' and I already have a plan where to put it.

Also went and bought a used upright freezer for the garage. Now I can buy my briskets by the case! Picked up a 19 cubic foot upright for $80. Hopefully it will last.

Picked up up shocks and a fuel filter for my Blazer today too but I am beat. Guess that's next weekend.

After a day off like this I'm ready to go back to work!

I am not trying to thread jack but I just recently finished a set of shelves in my garage as well as some storage in the attic. This pic is of the attic space above my hall bathroom. The builder had built an area for a platform and never decked it. After I blew in the additional insulation, I felt it was time to add a place to store our seasonal clothes.

A shelving area that I built out of 2x4s and some 1/2" CDX. Total cost was $74.00 and I added 12 linear feet of storage. I finished both projects in the same day. The attic access cost $33.00 finish (the cost of the CDX and the Liquid Nails).

I need to take pics of the shelving unit that I built from recycled lumber and materials. No money spent, just some time tearing down an old lean-to and a drive across town to pick up some solid doors.

Nice, I have a deck in my attic as well. I don't use it because it is such a pain in the arse to get anything up there. I don't have the pull down stairway, just the small 2'x2' attic door. Maybe I'll add a pull down to my to-do list.
