Whats your favorite memory of the rivalry?

I was present to see Staley run down the sideline and Gilford make a game sealing pick to win it in 2001 and I was there last year to see "magic happen" but my favorite BYU-UU memory has to be 2006.

I was sitting in the Muss, my buddy's friend got us tickets, wearing blue in a sea of red when with a minute and change to go Utah scores their go ahead touchdown. The students were going crazy and there was talk of rushing the field to celebrate the win. I meanwhile was hopeful thinking that the Utes left too much time on the clock for Jo Beck and company to work with.
The Cougs drive the length of the field but are stopped for a fourth down desperation play. Images of 2005 flash in my head as I prepare myself for deja vu all over again. When this happens...

I was at Rice Eccles for LaVell's last game. That was fun.

I was at LES when Staley went down the sidelines. Right before the play where Lance Rice dropped back to pass,,,I turned to my brothers and said...."Gilford is gonna pick him off..." and then blam...he did and I got dogpiled by several people in my section.

I was at Rice Eccles for the Harline is still open game. I was in the NEZ where he caught it. We had cups (with and without) drinks in them being thrown at us as we were jumping up and down and celebrating. We were in a euphoric state and didn't feel a thing.

I was at LES last year on 4th and 18.

Of those I'd say my favorite was 2006.

          Believe it or not...3-0 loss.

Don't get me wrong...I have watched the last 2 years at home with friends and about had a coronary...but they were great.

I took my oldest daughter to that game...some here may remember. We had a tailgate going and it was 6 degrees outside. We cooked steaks and salmon and partied. TAI was there, Tim was there, Eweth8r was there. My daughter burned up 1/2 tank of gas in the car keeping herself warm.

My daughter is a band geek...the second she saw the band marching down the street to the stadium she bundled up and we headed along with them. She was marching and doing the whole bit with them. She was only 11 or 12 at the time. I think 11.

We sat on 1 1/2" thick sheet of ice. We didn't bring anything to sit on so we got soaked through. My daughter kept running to the bathroom to warm up and come back.

At half time we were down 3-0 and I offered to leave and drive back to grandpas and we could watch the last quarter. She said "No way dad, I want to be here for when we win this thing". The Boy Scout father with 8 kids in front of us took pity on her and gave her 4 hand warmers. She ran to to the bathroom and put 1 in each shoe at her toes and the other two in her gloves.

I dropped about 40.00 on cocoa.

We didn't win the game, it took us 3 hours to drive to Clearfield afterwards. We counted over 200 accidents on the freeway.

But it is a memory that I have to this day that I would pay thousands of dollars to have again with both of my girls.

I am brining my youngest up for BYU/Utah next year.

          She is 11.

Wouldn't Ryan Kaneshiro's doink have been a better choice? You must have accidentally posted the wrong one.

I have been really lucky to be at almost all the Y U matchups, since my freshman year, with the exception of when I was on my mission.

I have to say that my freshman year at BYU is vivid....Ty drops 70 on the U.

I remember sitting in the North End Zone and all the Ute hecklers were mocking BYU, chanting BCS or making fun of "The Dominator." Then Gilford intercepted the pass and we all went nuts. Much popcorn and wadded paper was thrown that day, my friends, and many humbled Ute fans filed out of that upper deck in utter dejection and disgust.

The dinked filed goal....only because until it dinked, I pretty much thought we were going to lose. I mean, how often does a FG dink, anyway?

I was at Harline is open and literally lost my voice. I never thought that would happen again...

....until 4th and 18. I went with my little brother in law. we scored 5 yard line tickets....5th row, east stands, south end zone. We were able to see the winning touchdown. once again, we were sitting by some Utes that counted their chickens before they were hatched. This time, no wadded paper was thrown. Handshakes were exchanged, actually because the guys were pretty cool. But we ran out onto the field and celebrated with everyone else.

There is something magical about college football that keeps us all young, like kids. We get so excited, can't sleep as though it were Christmas eve, etc... College football is my Field of Dreams.
              Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Sounds like a good time except the final score. Luckily I was on my mission for all of the Crowton years except 2001. I got back in time to see the Payne hit on that return and a few loses at the end of 2004. It was a good time to serve the Lord.

For you Utes, the 1988 edition of the Holy War.

My only connection to this game is my wife's uncle scored the touchdown at the 28 second mark. He said after the game his dad, a BYU fan, didn't congratulate him on the win or for scoring a touchdown. He only said, "How could you do that to the Lord's team?"

I understand completely. I was on my mission '83-'85. A good time to be out of the country for a Ute fan.

I believe I met you that day at the tailgate. I was the one who brought salmon. I made Bernard try it, as he had never eaten salmon because he's not a fan of fish.

I got some great pictures on the field afterwards with Austin Collie and Michael Reed.

If I wasn't such an idiot and knew how to post them here I would.
