  • The OFFICIAL Utah decommit thread

What is going on up on the hill?

Josh Huff RB Utah to Minnesota to TCU
Perry Jackson DE Utah to SDSU
Darian Lazard WR Utah to Houston
Matt Anderson RB/S Utah to TCU
Jacoby Walker QB Utah to Arkansas
Jamal Douglas OT Utah to Arizona State
Archie Muniz OT Utah to Mississippi State

Has any one program ever had so many decommits?

This is shocking. When was the last time we saw the defending national champs lose so much 1- and 2-star talent to schools like San Diego State, Mississippi State and Houston?

The reason this is happening is obvious. The Utes are operating on a new tier. THere is more competition and more fluidity. This week they also picked up a pro-style qb commit that is rated higher than Nick Montana, and certainly more sought after than Jacoby what's his face.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

They picked up a qb that decommitted from Colorado State. Lol! Because Colorado State has a 4 star kid going there so the 3 star decided he would rather play at Utah.

The Utes are losing the recruiting wars to Houston and San Diego State?

I see that his is higher rated that Montana on Rivals. Can you help me find Jacoby what's his face on this list? I can't find him...

Utah will never again win an MWC championship.

Let's just remember how many of these 4 star recruits actually perform at the D-1 level when they get there.

Here's what sometimes happens. Guys like the qb commit this week materialize then they have to ease earlier commits out to other programs. Or, because a commit is just flat out hot, and Utah is now in the fight for those kinds of kids, there's a lot of competition for him. Kids are flaky; they change their minds. This happens all the time. It's also why Whit is biding his time and not filling his dance card precipitusly. The field is ripe! If Whit wanted to settle for less he could just limit and bring the boat back to port. But he's trolling for the big fish.

You really can't compare BYU to Utah. BYU is like Florida but with much lesser recruits--BYU is the first and ony choice of about 30 players a year, mostly becuase they love their moms so much. BYU has the moms in its corner, for reasons I've explained. Thus, kids commit to BYU like in Medieval times marriages were arranged--by the parents while the kids were toddlers.

Do you guys really think that Boise, who is in much the same positition as Utah this year, has flat out cratered its recruiting class? You're naive if you do.

It sounds like maybe CSU is going to be back soon. Why not?

So to make room for one QB, Whit eased out 2 OTs, 2 RBs, a WR, and a DE?
This is an interesting recruiting strategy.

You have used this same tired argument over and over and it holds no water. Like I said in another thread we are 2 1/2 weeks from signing day, most classes are full, there are a few 5 star glory hounds that want to commit on signing day so they can get some pub, but those kids are not going to trickle down to Utah or anyone else.

You are losing recruits to SDSU and Houston and stealing recruits from Colorado State and UTEP.

Your two "big time" Qb commits had offers from:

                          Blechen- Utah (oh thats it)
                          Shreve- Utah and CSU

You did land two 4 star WRs:

The problem is they may have had a lot of offers but they are all mid-majors or lower tier BCS teams.

Terrell Reese- best offer Oklahoma State (maybe Texas A&M)
Kenneth Scott- had 1 BCS offer Michigan State all of his other offers were WAC and MWC schools.

Seantrel Henderson is still uncommitted. He is The Vest's to lose, but anything is possible with Whit in the mix!

lol one of those 4 stars is higher rated than the deified abo. I have reason to belive there will be more 4 stars. BYU has only four of them in its 29, and no five stars.
