  • My Fuse Box Question

I have a related followup question for later, but for starters I'm wondering what tool I need to acquire if the strikeplate for my replacement deadbolt is too tall for the current recess in the doorframe. (Current height is 2-1/4", and I need to extend it to 2-3/4". The hole for the deadbolt itself is the correct size.)

    How about a 1/2" or 1" chisel?

I usually trace out where I would cut the recess and then use a utility knife to cut the outline to the depth I need. Then I would use a sharp chisel to cut out the rest of the recess.

Knife and chisel should do it. A rubber mallet is good for the chisel. The strike plate should be very easy because one side is not bounded by wood.
        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Thanks, guys. I think Home Depot missed me today so I'm on this first thing Monday morning.
