With USC in trouble, cue the 'Pete Carroll to the NFL' rumors

Granted, the timing is all wrong for Carroll to bolt USC now. All NFL jobs are filled for 2009, plus Carroll probably wouldn't want to make it seem like he's abandoning a sinking ship. But the coach has flirted with the NFL in the past when there was no good reason to leave his cushy job at USC. Now, he might have a very good reason to leave his cushy job at USC.

Lake v. Bush the reason for Pete jumping ship?

Dec. 28 - Reggie Bush has lost his bid to go to confidential arbitration to settle a lawsuit filed by a fledgling sports marketer.

The state Court of Appeal on Monday upheld a lower court's order denying Bush's motion to compel arbitration with Lloyd Lake, meaning the case will proceed in court.

Lake's attorney, Brian Watkins, said it was Bush's last-ditch effort to keep the case out of the public eye.
