What got surprisingly little attention from the commentators was the character of Mack Brown's decision not to play his starter. There's no doubt Colt could have played, and many coaches would have sent him in.

It must have been awfully difficult for both Colt and Mack last night, but it was refreshing to see a coach put his player's health and future ahead of personal and team ambition. It would be nice if this became more common in high school and college sports.

I'm reluctant to post this because I sense some sort of inside joke or sarcasm, but Colt said in his post-game interview that he basically had a dead arm (pinched nerve?), no strength in it to throw a ball. There was no decision to be made by Mack.
