  • Boise State's road record vs BCS teams

Does BSU have the ability to win on the road consistently, or even often, against Top 25 competition?

Number of times Boise State has scheduled and beaten a BCS team on the road, ever: 1

Not convinced that adding Boise is anything to get overly excited about. And if Boise were smart, it would stay put in the WAC, unopposed.

I get the sense BSU has turned the corner in every way with Peterson, esp the past couple of years. They've built a totally legit program.

They were a Div 1AA school until 1995. They went from playing Weber State and Idaho State to UCLA and ASU. Give them some time to grow up.

NO. that's the point. To some of us they will always be a glorified community college.

They are a glorified community college because they were once 1AA? Why is that?

A community college that kicked the U's ass three times. I went to both BYU and BSU and BYU was definitely tougher but BSU is getting better. As more and more kids want to go there they can upgrade their standards but it will take time. I really enjoyed my time over there.

I sat in the MUSS and watched that community college destroy the Utes 36-3. That must mean the U is a glorified finger painting community organization.

3D, can you post a similar chart for BYU? Thanks in advance.

I think you guys are misunderstanding this thread. I have already acknowledged Boise State's accomplishments in the mid major era.

I am simply pointing out a fact that is fairly relevant in all the discussions we have been having since yesterday.

Boise State deserves the accolades, but it also deserves some scrutiny (as does every program).

I think even the most ardent BSU supporter would have to admit that this is a huge and glaring hole in BSU's resume. I didn't know until this morning that BSU only has that 1 road win. That is a legitimate discussion point.

Keep in mind that BYU does not have a great road record against BCS teams, either, so I am not saying that Boise did not deserve its win last night or against Oklahoma.

I do think that adding BSU to the MWC isn't the cure-all that many are claiming (it might be, admittedly) and I agree with Donute's point in a different thread.....why in blazes would BSU join the MWC? They don't need the MWC. They have proven that twice already.

Yes. Road wins each of the last 3 years (if you count OU as a road win).
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Minor point, but winning and kicking butt are not necessarily the same thing. In the most recent game, BSU did indeed kick butt, but the previous two wins not so much: 26-20 @ BSU in 1999 and 31-28 @ Utah in 1998.
