  • Good Day for Big Ten

Victories against the Pac 10 and SEC. I'm really starting to believe this whole speed difference thing is a myth.

Watch Florida vs Cincy and then see if you still think that.

Ohio State probably puts more players in the NFL than all but about 3-4 other programs. And a lot of their prospects actually pan out. Ohio State has never had a problem with speed, especially compared to a team like Oregon. Ohio State has recruiting classes that Oregon can only dream of.

The problem for Ohio State is that they haven't been able to beat those other 3-4 programs over the past few years (USC, Texas, Florida, LSU).
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The old school football fan in me loved watching tOSU do that to the cocky "we play so fast" ducks. Sorry HFN.

Too much emphasis on "speed" by a team has its drawbacks once you face a team that as much or almost as much speed but also has superior size and strength. That's why Florida got absolutely abused by Alabama. There's a reason why they don't run Florida and Oregon type offenses in the NFL. And as I mentioned in the thread about Alabama v. Florida, Florida had Tebow and their entire defense back from last year and they still got their ass kicked by Alabama and Saban is only in his third year and still doesn't have all his players in the program. So, I think Florida is going to start playing second fiddle to Alabama in the SEC unless Meyer adjusts and starts running a pro style offense.

And it's not like Saban can't recruit or doesn't know how to build up a program judging by what he did at LSU. Things can still get better at Bama.

The box for the Rose Bowl is mind boggling. The great Mizzoli 81 yards passing! TOP 42 min. tOSU, 18 min. Oregon. First downs 26-12. TY 419-260. tOSU beat the shit out of Oregon! And Oregon ran away with the Pac 10.

I like how 3D says hell will freeze over before the Rose Bowl invites an MWC team, then the Pac puts up a weak sister like Oregon as its representative champion. How embarrassing.

I think Oregon wanted to be there. Its only Rose Bowl win was in 1917.

tOSU had six scoring drives, Oregon had three. The problem was that tOSU had four field goals, so the score was closer than the yardage, TOP and first downs indicated.
