  • Will Kyle Lose his Vote?

So, presumably, Whittingham, true to his word voted Utah #1. Does this mean he will lose his vote in the coaches poll? I'm glad he voted for Utah, regardless of the ramifications because he said he would do it and he did it.

I don't know if Pete Carroll said he would or not, but I know Mack Brown did and when you see these big name coaches just fall in line and vote the way the system tells them to, it's disheartening. It also proves that at the end of the day, these guys are OK with the system because eventually they will be the beneficiaries of the system.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Pete Carroll does not have a vote.

After the Fiesta Bowl, Mack said he would vote for Texas.

Don't they change up the voters every year?

Did he really say that? I recall them shoving a mike in his face and he replied with "I think we are playing as well as anyone in the country right now" or something like that. What do you expect a coach to say when put on the spot like that right after a big emotional win? These folks calling him out for being some kind of pussy for not voting Texas #1 are silly.

I thought they specifically asked a question about the vote and he said something like "Texas was his number one." But I have a tendency to misremember things.

And obviously, I'm not suggesting that Mack is some form of female genitalia; and I haven't been reading enough commentary today (shocking, I know) to realize that anyone else was. I think he was smart to vote according to the agreement, unless he were going to vote for Utah to make a statement. But to break ranks to vote for yourself, well, that's just not good form.

Brown 100% said after the Fiesta Bowl that he was going to vote Texas #1. I guess he couldn't convince enough other people to go along with him. I wonder if he called Tedford and tried to sell him on the idea?

The Texas sports information director probably missed that quote and then voted how he wanted when filling out Brown's ballot.

Well, at least this answers one question. The coaches really are free to vote for whichever team they prefer.

Interesting that it was the Mormon that broke ranks with the continuem.
                    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

"I wasn't sure before, but Friday morning I'm going to vote Texas No. 1 because I think this is the best team in the country," Brown said after Texas squeaked past Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl."

Good. I'm glad I didn't make that up.

Honestly, I think he'd have been a lot more likely to follow through with that had a certain crimson-clad team from the Big 12 conference won its game last night.
