    Next BCS modifiication will be the +1 format

    As long as they can keep getting incrementally "closer" to an undisputed champion, they can stave off the playoff. Though this year would be interesting. Who gets a shot at Florida? You'd think it would have to be the Utes ... but there would be those clamoring for SC too.

    What about Texas who was ranked ahead of both of them going in to this game?

        I'm going to state for the 6739856833583384th time:

        There is no way in hell the BCS cartel will ever allow a team from a non-BCS conference to play for their fake championship. Not even in a +1 situation.

            actually, in a plus 1, the format is a bit different. it was alleged that after the BCS bowls, the teams would all be re-seeded. So Florida would not get an automatic spot in this second round, which would be more akin to how a real playoff works. I already said that based off the BCS bowls, I would guess that it would be SC vs Utah in the final game.

            Utah would be in the final game this year in a plus 1, i would think.

              Not being ranked 7th in the AP or 6th in the BCS.

                it wouldn't matter in the second round. It would matter for making the first round field of teams.

                After the bowls are played, ALL teams get re-seeded based on their performance in the bowls. So this year, I think it is fair to say that Utah and SC dominated their bowl game, Texas needed a miracle finish, Florida won, but did not amaze, and the Va tech game was stupid and pointless.

                      The best thing that could happen to the BCS for it's longevity is for a Utah or other "mid-major" to win the national title under the BCS system. "See, it is open to everyone!"

                              Average college FB fan, especially if based in SEC land, does not have the capacity to grasp this system.
                              At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
