I didn't think Cal looked excited, I think both teams looked somewhat bored until the pick 6. After that Utah looked like they needed to start playing.

It is a weak excuse, if you aren't interested turn the game down.

The Pac-10 is just way overrated. They really need USC to be dominant to give that conference any credibility. This is a really down year for them.

Well several people were proclaiming that the Pac-10 was the 2nd best conference in the country behind the SEC, that is either not true or the MWC is pretty damn good.

I think a team like Oregon can rise to the occasion once a year to beat a team like Utah, but I don't think they could compete week in and week out in the MWC.

Obviously the MWC is good. Don't most of the rankings have them as high as 4th best conference? I would imagine by the end of bowl season the MWC will be even higher.

Cal did still lose 5 games, including getting blown out by Washington right?

This was Cowherd's main point today -- that the PAC-10 bowl games suck compared to the SEC's games and the teams can't get excited to play in them.

But he followed that up by saying that the MWC deserves an auto-bid more than the Big East.

FWIW, we ran into Keo Camat, one of the Oregon State players in the Venetian and talked to him a little about the game yesterday morning. I said, "Well, you guys are favored by 3 and everyone is picking you guys to win." He acted genuinely surprised that his team was favored and said that the coaches told them BYU would be really tough. OSU may have not been excited to play in the Las Vegas Bowl, but I don't think the coaches and players expected to dominate the game.
