They will be good next year. Might even win the MWC. I think they have as good a shot as any team, because they'll have the favorable schedule and senior QB. Offensive line? If there's one position BYU does a good job of reloading at, it's there.
But 2010 is shaping up to be god-awful on so many levels for BYU. Nearly one-third of their scholarship players graduate. No Hall, Unga, Collie, Pitta, Jorgensen, etc. The front 7 will be crushed by graduation, and the best prospects for BYU there will be either in the mission field or will be just returning.
I think this is when Bronco's recruiting efforts and landing marginal talents finally catches up to him. Outside of Jorgensen, who fell in his lap, I don't think Bronco's recruited one player on the defensive side of the ball who's come remotely close to all-MWC honors.
I'll gladly break out the shovel then, but until then, I think most of you should remember that fortune can be fleeting in the MWC. We lose several key components that just can't be replaced overnight.
