  • Another Ute recruit lost

It seems that Jacoby Walker has decommitted from Utah in favor of Arkansas.

At this point I've begun feeling bad for the Utes and the conference.

Utah will be just fine. It's hard for me to be upset losing a Texas kid to an SEC school on the rise.

This is what happens when SU starts trolling about recruiting smack.

That sucks though for the Utes.

We only had him for like a day, so it's not that big of a loss.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

My thought has always been that if a kid wants to play for the U, then he'll play for the U and I'll wish him the best while at the U. If he chooses not to play for the U, then I wish him well.

It makes no sense to worry about the kids who decide not to play on the Hill. Whittingham has a proven record of molding the kids that he coaches into the kind of players he needs. That's all that really matters.

Also, let's not forget that he was committed to Kansas before he verballed with Utah, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

Yeah but he withdrew his commitment after Mangino was fired.

                  Definitely non-committal.

Recruiting disappointments happen every year. This registers as about a 1 on the giveacrapometer.

Utah should take kids that recruit Utah, not the other way around.

Did Utah have a major head coaching change in the last month?

You'd certainly seem to think so with the way recruiting has gone over the past few weeks.

The commitment list is hemorrhaging. Utah is losing non-LDS Cali kids to BYU.

I mean, this is the type of thing you see happening at schools that lose their head coaches, like Kansas, for example. Not a team that is less than one year removed from winning a 2nd BCS bowl game in impressive fashion, finished the season 9-3 and ranked in the top 25 and has a stable HC situation.

                        I'm really aghast.

He was the lowest rated of our two quarterback recruits, by quite a ways. One of them would have wound up tranferring. That this kid is vascilating between Utah, Kansas and Arkansas looks bad for Utah? I don't think so. He was a soft commit at best but we're competing with the BCS schools, and getting our share, which wasn't the case 2-3 years ago.

Our studs are real recruits, not kids committed by their mamas when they were 14 years old. Utah doesn't have that edge. We have to go mano a mano with the big programs for our stars.
