  • The Official "Bowl Game Snacks" Thread

Ok, getting pumped for the bowl games, and super bowl etc. Now...I am always up for tasty treats and snacks for the big games.

However, I'm as creative as dirt clod, and aside from a (what I think) is a yummy chip dip (refried beans, sour cream, salsa, grated cheese)...that I think is good, but not very creative.

What are some of the better bowl game eats you have or make for the games.

(besides...who couldn't use an additional intake of about 10,000 calories in a 2 hour period???)

Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

I didn't know Kraft made Olde English, and you tried to tell me that wasn't your beer at the Oregon/Utah game.

-Caramel apple salad (it has Snickers bars in it, but it's healthy because it's a salad)
-Buffalo wings (3 T cayenne pepper, cook at 500 degrees)

We always do this for the Super Bowl.

Nothing unique. If it's a bowl doubleheader, Mrs. PAC will cook up tri-tip. In any case, she is always kind to put out a big platter of Diablo Dip (refried beans, jack and cheddar cheeses, chopped green peppers and scallons, sour cream, olives and I don't know what else), bowls of tortilla chips, a sheet of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, Coke and Root Beer, etc., then after watching with feigned interest for five minutes, she goes upstairs to her "I Love Me" room and we don't see each other again until bedtime. This has worked very well for decades.

            bacon-wrapped dates
            bacon-wrapped dogs
            queso dip w/spicy sausage
            deviled eggs
            buffalo wings

Also, depending on how many people, I will make enchiladas and chicken taquitos with homemade salsa (no cauliflower). yum!

Try some Atomic Buffalo Turds (ABTs).

Cut some jalapenos in half and de-seed them. Fill the little jalapeno "boat" you have just created with a filling mix consisting of softened cream cheese, some shredded cheddar cheese, honey, your favorite BBQ rub powder, and maybe even a little pulled pork. Wrap with a slice of bacon and smoke it over fruit wood until the bacon is crisp.

              You'll thank me later.

Twizzlers and Starbursts. I'll have to see if I can't find the recipe around here somewhere.

Seriously? I'm not sure I've ever heard of anything bacon-wrapped that didn't sound delish, but this is pushing the envelope. Like a big bowl of oysters and raisins. But I'm not a fan of dates, so I'll have to pass even if you bear a strong testimony. Make mine bacon-wrapped bacon.

Does it have habaneros? Because if it doesn't, then its too weak for me. Weak sauce!

So many possibilities. This will replace the dancing sugar plums in my Christmas Eve dreams.
