Why in the world would anybody from the MWC want to join the Big 12 if you could get an auto-bid in the Mountain West? The odds are much better of winning the conference in the MW. That's like asking USC if they'd want to join the SEC just for the heck of it.

Other objectives: exciting regular season schedule, national recognition, TV exposure, ability to recruit, etc.
