  • Crowton excuses vs Bronco excuses

Crowon: young, inexperienced, no scholarships to give, waiting for missionaries to return, QB issues, tough schedule, admin won't let me hire the right coaches, injuries, sun was in my eyes, whatever.

You wondered if he really knew what was wrong and how to fix it, but you never wondered about his goals/motives/aspirations/vision.

Bronco: football's our #5 priority get used to it fans and kiss my black a$$ if you don't like it

You don't worry too much about Bronco's ability, but you wonder if his goals/motives/aspirations/vision are in line with your own for the program.

I'm not sure which is worse.

Bronco's excuses carry much more weight with those in charge.

I think the one thing BYU folks get surprised with time and time again is they think they are doing the bidding of those in charge. However, when things function like everywhere else and the money starts drying up due to fans and mainly donors getting bugged, they find out their allies cut them loose as quickly as any other big college.

BYU may get some pass more so than other schools because of the faith factor. I think BYU fans are more inclined to anticipate good things based on faith than other fan bases.

If his arse is really a different color from the rest of his body, well, I think Bronco has much bigger problems than a stupid football game.

I think the biggest difference is one is explaining losing to New Mexico or UNLV at home, or why CSU was up by half a hunerd before half. While the other is explaining why he cannot win the conference every year.

Mendenhall having to make excuses says something about BYU's fanbase.

Jay, I speak to you as if you were present, but you are not. I know your doings and if you were present, I would embrace you and kiss your cheek. Then I would probably scream in your face, much like Coriantumr hollered "Oh shit, what have I done" when his civilization deteriorated to single digit numbers, "Pull the string, you pussie!"

Know your personality, my guess is the embrace would end shortly thereafter.

It wasn't that bad of a year and you are only being a bitch because of how good Utah was.

You and I have different expectations. I think we're a top 30 program and finishing #30 in the nation (computer polls) or wherever we'll finish is an average season. You think it's the best we can hope for.

I'm not upset. #30 in the nation is not a terrible year. Of course #30 at the end of the season feels better when you end the season strong and move up to #30 rather than tank the end of the season and drop to #30.

The bottom line is that I don't want to hear from the coach that is basically all I can expect and that the reason is that football is #5 on his priority list. I want to hear that he's hungry and that the end of season tank was unacceptable and he'll do his best not to let it happen again. And he and all his assistants are spending every minute until Feb. 2 recruiting to sign the very best class possible (and not measured by the For Strength of Youth pamphlet). And that after that he's spending every minute strategizing how to improve our D and O. Things like that. Not "sorry folks you're #5, I'm going surfing".
