  • Thoughts about TCU vs. Boise

Complaining about this only validates the notion that the BCS is nobility. Why is TCU better off playing Iowa than Boise?

This is not the worst possible matchup for TCU. If TCU handles Boise people will respect it more than had it routed Iowa.

Complaining about this on TCU's behalf only arises from fear. Apart from the fact that MWC honor is on the line vs. an upstart mid-major, this is the best possible matchup TCU could have hoped for. Texas or Alabama was not possible, Florida is locked into the SUGAR BOWL, and no way in hell the SUGAR BOWL picks TCU over Cincinnati (especially since Cincinnati leapfrogged TCU in the BCS poll).

Prediction: TCU buries Boise like Georgia buried Hawaii, and Florida buries Cincinnati like Georgia burried Hawaii. TCU finishes no. 2 in the AP; second year in a row an MWC team finishes no. 2 in the AP. Not bad. You heard it here first.

I chuckle at all the TCU boosters here. No one was this protective of Utah even after they achieved a record that TCU cannot possibly match this year. I guess hate always trumps self-interest.

Frankly, I care A LOT less about TCU winning this year than I did last year, for obvious reasons. I wouldn't care much if Boise won, and preserved the 2008 Ute season as the undisputed greatest mid-major season ever (which it will be anyway come what may).

Nice thoughts. I think TCU-Boise will be one of the most entertaining bowls this season, certainly more fun to watch than an Iowa or Georgia Tech match up. Though I don't like the BCS system, I admire this decision for the sheer gumption. Very nice play by the decision makers.

      What a perfect argument.

Exactly. This way they avoid possibly having 3 undefeated teams at the end of the season. Jerks.

I guess I'm just mostly disappointed that they put TCU against "upstart" Boise rather than the #3 BCS darling Cincinnati or even Florida. You put the best against the best for the most intriguing matchup, and I genuinely feel like TCU deserves better.

You are high. This game is going to be a huge blowout. Tebow will not lose two games in a row. He will have 2 Samuel 22:41 on his eye black

                  damn skippy.

cincy is the real deal this year. they beat a good oregon state team, a good pitt team, and a good west virginia team. florida was exposed yesterday, and cincy will beat them.

I haven't seen the line yet, but are you saying Cincy straight up or to cover? But I'll take some of that action.

I'm excited about this game. It might have been the best game of the bowl season last year, and both teams are better.

The difference will be Andy Dalton. BSU simply hasn't faced a QB with the combination of his arm, poise, and talent. Kellen Moore is no slouch, but TCU's defense will be too fast and too well-coached.

BSU is not so much an "upstart" team. They have been to more BCS bowls in the last 5 years than all of the MWC, ever.

I think it will be an exciting game, from begining to end. TCU has not seen an offense this year as explosive as BSU. I see BSU coming out the gates strong, and pounding the football with Jeremy Avery and the Moore dinkin' and dumpin'. I agree with BO, the difference in the game will be Dalton. He should have a career day against this BSU defense. The D needs to come into this game with the same swager it had against the ducks. If that D is shows up it could be a long day for him. I just don't see it. I think it will be another close game, just like last year's bowl game between these two, with TCU coming out on top

                              Correct. Utah 2. TCU 1. BSU 1.
