  • Thoughts on Sark's first year?

UW finishes 5-7, including two wins over ranked opponents. I think you have to consider this season a major success given that they went 0-fer last year.

It will be interesting to see what happens next year and beyond, but I think Sark is going to do some nice things. Next year probably hinges mostly on Locker. If he comes back, they could take another step forward. If not, they probably won't match this year's five wins.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

With or without Locker next year will be tough for Washington. They have revenge games @ Arizona who will probably be better, @ USC, and @ Cal (though the Tedford shine might finally be wearing off and Cal could be sinking back to being Cal). Stanford and Oregon State will both be pretty good next year again though both of those are in Seattle.

Non-Conf they play @ BYU, and Syracuse and Nebraska at home. If they can go 2-1 non-conf they should have a chance to go 6-6. That could be a tall order though.

    9-4 @ Brigham Young-?
    9-11 Syracuse-W
    9-18 Nebraska-L
    9-25 @ California-L
    10-2 @ Southern California-L
    10-9 Arizona State-?
    10-16 Oregon State-?
    10-23 @ Arizona-L
    10-30 Stanford-?
    11-6 @ Oregon-L
    11-13 UCLA-W
    11-20 @ Washington State-W

Edit: I changed Oregon State to a ?, that was what I had meant not an L.

Washington doesn't play a Florida schedule. The Pac 10 is top to bottom the toughest confernce, and they are not afraid to play the likes of LSU and Notre Dame nonconfernece. This was a huge leap forward for the Huskies. 0-12 last year, and only perfunctory recruiting by Willingham his last year or two. 5-7 with that schedule is fabulous.

Heaps is making a huge mistake. I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it. But Montana is a similar prospect.

Im sure your ute bias has no play in that opinion. How is Washington any better than BYU?

Sark had a great season and should be proud of what he has accomplished in his first year at UW. From the looks of it, he has fulfilled the two most important goals:

          1. Change the culture/make players believe. I think he has done this. Players and fans had hope this season, bolstered by some fun wins. Players were amped up, as evidenced by last night's drubbing of Kal in what was technically a meaningless game for both teams. UW played their minds out because they are excited again.

          2. Win more games than the previous winless season. Admittedly, a pretty simple goal, since he only needed to win one game. But he was close to bowl eligibility, which is pretty impressive, esp given the difficulty of the Pac10 this year.

If Sark can get UW to 6 wins and a bowl next season, he will have taken another huge step forward. He is basically building something from scratch. UW fans should be very happy with this season.
          Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Do you think Locker will stick around? Has he dropped any hints?

I respect Sark a lot more than I do Bronco. For one thing, I could send my kid on a recruiting trip to UW and be confident he wouldn't be invited to a kegar lousy with underage kids. Sark is probably better at developing a great qb. Also, Washington plays a lot tougher schedule. I think Sark is going to have a better career at Washington than Bronco ever will at BYU. I think Heaps would have a better shot at playing in a BCS bowl at UW. Finally, UW is a better school by any measure.

Sorry! Just being honest. Scouts honor, I really do think he'd be better off at UW for countless reasons. How can you not believe me?

You managed to respond twice without discussing the stated question. I knew you were a great lawyer, also you made SpaceGhost frustrated.
