USC's loss would put them at 6th (I think that's what was said on the telecast), which would mean they head to the Poinsettia by rank, but I suppose if they are tied at 6-3 with OSU, Cal, etc...they could get selected by the Sun Bowl or Vegas Bowl. So, in theory, one of the two teams has a very good shot at playing USC.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

USC is 5-4.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
Good call, sorry for the mix up. So, it is very likely that they are heading to San Diego.

Well right now Washington is beating Cal 14-3 and knocking on the door to go up 21-3. So Cal and USC would both be 5-4. Vegas would have their choice of USC or Cal.
So how do the Pac-10 picks work? Since the Holiday has the 2nd choice, does that mean they must take the 2nd place team, or does it mean they have 2nd pick of the whole litter?

They said on the broadcast that Arizona was going to the Holiday bowl, so I'm not sure.

Well there is a 3 way tie for second, so they can pick whomever they want. I suspect they take Stanford, Sun takes Arizona and Emerald gets Beavos.
Does Washington beating Cal, put USC in the fifth spot? Doesn't this mean USC will go to the Vegas Bowl?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
