  • Next time you guys question my prophetic talents,

think about this. Here's what I wrote to some friends before the Sugar Bowl:

"Wouldn't it be great to catch them totally off guard with our game plan, athletes, and emotion, and shoot out ahead 21-0 like four years ago in Provo. And them lacking a big play offense like BYU. Here's to dreaming."

True story. Ma'ake and LAUte can verify. They were on the email string.

    K. Whitt is the greatest freaking big game coach ever!!!!!!!!!! I love that man! He's King Leonidas and George S. Patton reincarnated!

When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I wrote a similar email before the Vegas Bowl.

"Guys, I don't even know why I am stopping in Vegas. BYU will likely lose."

Junkie, I will send you the whole email string if you will promise only to read that part of it (it's on top; there are actually several strings), on one condition: 3D has to sanction that doing it this way is not dishonorable.

Then you delete it and come here and verify.

If it was not a confidential email, then I have no problem with it. If it was clearly meant to be For Your Eyes Only, then I withdraw my endorsement.

Sheena Easton references are always a good thing, except for that horrendous Morning Train song.

Remainder of the email string contains phrases such as:

"Alabama is going to kill Utah"

"Utah wins this one on a last second FG"

"Utah plays Bama tough, but they are just too good. Alabama really should be ranked #2 behind Florida"

"I wish I could make love to DDD. He turned me down even after I tried to impress him showing up to the BYU-Washington game this year. I think I'll drown my sorrows in a nice apple martini now."

Please Junkie, verify that this is correct.

Uh, by your own admission, it was merely a dream, not a prophecy. By that standard, I've had many prophecies about Raquel Welch in the '60s.

Your genuine prophecies have been more in the nature of "Utah will kill BYU in basketball this year." Mistaking dreaming for prophesying makes my blood boil.

I've been on a roll lately. How about this one (Junkie can verify it):

"I think Utah wins for a simple reason. The teams aren't THAT far apart in natural talent (granted, Alabama has more future NFLers than Utah, as probaby does BYU). On the other hand, it's hard to imagine a greater disparity in psychological factors. For Utah, if it wins this its greatest win and greatest season ever. Whit and this team are in the pantheon. The table is set for immortality. But for Alabama no matter how you slice it this game is a huge disappiontment. And we all know how good Whit is at this mental part of the game.

                    "Utah 34 Alabama 21"
