I am going to call my shot, he washes out at SC within 2 years, his dad goes to the media and complains that John wasnt playing for whatever reason he wants to come up with, his dad tries to pin recruiting scandals on SC, John ends up at another school before being let go again mainly due to a meddling dad. Then John ends up at a 1-AA school or out of football.

I have read/heard that PC would use Martinez as a center. Does that sound correct to you?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI am going to call my shot, he washes out at SC within 2 years, his dad goes to the media and complains that John wasnt playing for whatever reason he wants to come up with, his dad tries to pin recruiting scandals on SC, John ends up at another school before being let go again mainly due to a meddling dad. After the Rose Bowl, CJ Gable started complaining that he might transfer. He was mad that he was taken out of the backfield after fumbling the ball. Keep in mind, he also caught a pass for a TD and was still returning kicks.
I can't keep track of players that transfer away. So far, it has really only worked for Emmanuel Moody. Florida plays for the title this week, although Moody hasn't really been the stellar featured back he was hoping to be at SC.
Martinez is a big pickup......but what did you think of Manti? Honestly, I only thought so-so. I wasn't amazed.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Martinez played center tonight and looked solid tonight. He just has a meddling dad so I am interested to see how that plays out.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI have read/heard that PC would use Martinez as a center. Does that sound correct to you?

Manti was at a disadvantage tonight because the linebackers could not blitz, and could only play one coverage, basically zone middle. Also Manti is used to playing OLB not MLB which he was doing tonight. He did have about a 10 play sequence where he had 2 tackles for loss, broke up a screen, and almost intercepted another pass. But I agree at times he looked slower than the others, he missed quite a few tackles and wasnt overly impressive. He was raved about in practices however so hopefully it was more with the schemes they were limited to playing than his ability.
Xavier Su'afilo was a disappointment to me, he was beat time and time again playing right tackle.
Stan Hasiak (UCLA commit, former BYU prospect) played well at left guard.
Also Matt Barkley has a whip, he is going to be great for SC.*Banned*

Barkley is rad.
If Sanchez leaves, basically Mustain is out, AC is in, and Barkley redshirts, taking over in 3 years.
If Sanchez stays (which I think he does), then the only real change is that AC waits one more year. Mustain is out either way.
At the time those guys transferred from Arkansas, I would have sworn that Mustain was the bigger get. Who would have known that Damien Willams would turn out to be a monster.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

USC is getting another monster next year in Alashon Jeffrey, 6'4 215 pound wideout that has a 40 inch vert. He is not a burner, 4.55 guy but fits the SC receiver mold perfectly.*Banned*

Good. Patrick Turner is gone, so they need another guy that is in that 6'3"-6'6" range.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostUSC is getting another monster next year in Alashon Jeffrey, 6'4 215 pound wideout that has a 40 inch vert. Ausberry might start getting more playing time now that Turner will be leaving.
Obviously Williams will be a starter.
And don't forget the new darling of LA....RO-JO. He had a great Rose Bowl.
There are several platoon guys behind them. I am slightly interested in seeing what Jordan Cameron can do. Don't laugh. the kid is like 6'6"Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Is he playing receiver or tightend? Also what have you heard about him? Is he really good or this is a favor for Leinarts babies mommas brother.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostGood. Patrick Turner is gone, so they need another guy that is in that 6'3"-6'6" range.

well, he was originally brought in as a TE and he is supposed to lack explosiveness, which would kill any chance he has at playing WR at SC.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostIs he playing receiver or tightend? but allegedly he has practice at both positions. Sipi can probably speak to this more because he seems to attend practices (they are open to anyone, actually. I should go and meet Sipi and do a chest bump and stuff).
Obviously the thought was that his coming to SC had something to do with Brynn, but who knows. Not sure why having him on the team helped the situation with Matt.
Again, since he is so tall, I think that if these alleged workouts at WR show any promise, I wouldn't be surprised to see him line up as WR once or twice. But even as a TE...crap, a 6-6 TE? That is a nice target to have if your WRs are covered.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I agree also the fact that he played D-1 basketball would make me think he has some good leaping ability.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postwell, he was originally brought in as a TE and he is supposed to lack explosiveness, which would kill any chance he has at playing WR at SC.

Didn't watch the game, but found this quote on ESPN.com:Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostMartinez is a big pickup......but what did you think of Manti? Honestly, I only thought so-so. I wasn't amazed.
I know I'd be thrilled to land the guy. Which is why, of course, he'll end up at SC.UP: Manti Te'o, OLB Punahou/ Honolulu, Hawaii, Undecided
From the beginning of the first practice on Wednesday, Te'o quickly demonstrated why he is considered the top overall linebacker prospect in the country. Despite dominating against lesser perceived talent on the island of Hawaii during his high school career, it didn't take Te'o long to stake his claim as the best linebacker and maybe overall player on the Mainland. His great speed, striking explosiveness and uncanny instincts stood out all week, even to former NFL coaches who were in awe of his talents. Te'o took most of his reps on the inside, displaying the great scheme versatility he will bring to the next level. We knew he had the closing burst and overall tools to develop into disruptive perimeter 'backer in college, but we were impressed this week with the short-area power, strength and leverage he showed between the tackles at the point of attack. Te'o made a living blowing up opponents' backfields in Orlando; he dominated in similar fashion as last year's No. 1 overall player DaQuan Bowers (Clemson).

I thought Martinez did ok, he didn't look bad playing center. He & his dad are completely delusional if they think he'll step in and start at center. I smell a redshirt coming up and daddy getting upset.....we'll see. Do you think his dad will move to SoCal? Kris O'Dowd is a beast and will be a three year starter next season.
Manti will look good wearing #55 in cardinal & gold. I think Maualuga & Gallipo had better all star games, but you can tell the kid is a player.
Not a big Barkley fan, but whatever.

Gallipos performance at the US Army game was as good as I have ever seen from a highschool kid. However Chaisson who is going to Oklahoma and Roh who is going to Michigan both dominated yesterday.*Banned*

Well he did fall rapidly over the past few months. From the number 1 overall player in the country to the number 10 player. He also went from the number 1 QB to the number 3-4 (depending on who you are looking at).Originally posted by SipiTau View PostI think he's a tad overrated, but will look forward to seeing him at SC.
I think Russell Sheperd is an amazing athlete but he has no arm at all, I am sure he will make a good receiver at LSU.*Banned*
