If Ohio State has real character and Jim Tressel and his staff have half the savvy and Work ethic Utah's coaches do the Buckeyes will upset Texas tomorrow. Much like Utah was, Ohio State is playing for its soul, and regional pride. The whole country is disrespecting the Big 10 and the bowl record is awful. OSU should fight like the defenders of Stalingrad. The Buckeyes have been really bad in big bowls themselves.

I want Texas to beat Ohio State for this reason:
Should Oklahoma beat Florida, then the BCS fake champions will have lost to the Fiesta Bowl Champions. How could Oklahoma possibly be named AP champion?
And along those lines, how could Texas be named AP champions based on their loss to Texas Tech - who lost to Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl, who beat Florida who was playing in the BCS championship game? And how is it possible that Florida should have been there in the first place because of the loss to Ole Miss?
With all that to consider, Utah is the only undefeated team in the country. And the beat as many teams in the Top 30 as USC, who lost to a team that Utah beat.

lol. I like how you strategically go all the way down to the Top 30.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostWith all that to consider, Utah is the only undefeated team in the country. And the beat as many teams in the Top 30 as USC
As we know, the measuring stick for greatness was never really victories over top 10 teams, but rather, the dreaded Top 30 cutoff.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

You're right. Undefeated should be all that needs to be said.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postlol. I like how you strategically go all the way down to the Top 30.

True. And BYU is also the cause of the entire mess known as the BCS.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostBYU had the sense to go into its final game already ranked #1.
No gimmicky campaigns necessary.
Still, undefeated is undefeated. I challenge you to dispute that.
And I think the e-mail campaign smacks of zoobism and let those who did it know about it."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

I can't dispute that undefeated is undefeated. And that it is a definitely a GREAT feat. No taking that away from the Utah Utes.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostTrue. And BYU is also the cause of the entire mess known as the BCS.

The more howling the Ute fans do, the greater the criticism will be from the critics. No point in doing that. A BCS championship is impossible this year. And an AP championship would require ridiculous amounts of unprecendented poll shenanigans. Enjoy the great season and the Top 5 finish.
BYU is not to blame for the BCS. The Bowl Alliance, maybe, but not the BCS. I thought the Utes busted the BCS, anyway?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

DOn't be too hasty. I remember in HS learning that some Russian had supposedly proven that two parallel lines can intersect (I attributed this to too much vodka in a far too long winter, but my geometry instructor disagreed) so maybe undefeated, especially in the MWC, doens't really mean you won every game.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI can't dispute that undefeated is undefeated.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

there are some technicalities.Originally posted by creekster View PostDOn't be too hasty. for example, in the not-so-old days, you could go 9-0-2 in college football and claim to be "undefeated."
So, no, I guess "undefeated" isn't always "undefeated" (although it would still be "undefeated")Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
