Yes, but when anyone goes into the coach's office to ask to become a 3rd string quarterback he is begging to not humiliate himself. I don't care if he thought Nelson was the future of BYU and he's just being selfless, it tells me he didn't really want to play that much or think much of his ability to help the team, at least on the field. But that's a topic for a different day...

I did like him talking to Stephenson following his kick out of bounds. I had to wonder though, Gaskins said something to the effect of "You have the whole field..." but he's not his coach who instructed him to kick it to the corner which he thought meant kick it out of bounds at the 12 yard line. It's conflicting to say the least to offer advice contrary to the coach's and the special teams kick return team of a left corner kick return.
