Do you feel your team overachieved? underachieved? did what was expected?

For the Utes, I'd say they did what was expected. They won the games they were supposed to win and lost the ones they were supposed to lose and only got their doors blown off by TCU, which was a heckuva team.

Many thought the Utes would drop a game somewhere along the way and I was pleased to see that they didn't. I believe Whitt is turning a corner as a coach and will field a top 3 MWC team year in and year out.

I would say both overachieved. Going into the season I thought BYU would get rolled by Oklahoma and maybe suffer hangover losses to FSU and perhaps even Tulane after having to travel back across the country. They beat Oklahoma, and went 10-2 when I thought they would go 8-4.

I also thought Utah would go 8-4, but instead they went 9-3 and their losses are to two top 10 teams and all on the road. While getting a promising frosh QB some great experience.

I thought the Utes would win 8 games in their sleep and would finish with 9 wins and I was right (expected). I thought BYU would win 7 games in their sleep and finish with 9 wins and I was under(overachieved).

Another 10 win season and win over our rival made this a success.

Did that expectation change after the OU win?

Sure as heck did. Watching Florida State absolutely manhandle BYU's defense after the performance in Dallas was disconcerting, to say the least.

Absolutely. I won't lie. I hoped against hope that Bradford's injury would heal quickly and firmly believed the FSU game to be a warm up for TCU. It didn't happen the way I thought it would for BYU but more wins is more wins. I'm still not over the FSU game and I hope that neither are the returning players but I will take 10 wins.

They did what I expected. I figured they would lose twice and win th rest. However, I thought they would lose to Oklahoma and TCU, in close ones...

Never did I even think they would get pummeled by FSU or TCU..

So in a way I was disappointed by the two loses. The game against Utah brought back hope in the defense. They seem to play with the same level of intensity they had against OU in the beginning but then let up at the end.. I can only hope they can be consistent..

That was more due to Wynn being terrible than the defense being all that great. A better quarterback hits the wide open Ute receivers on the sidelines and the game is a loss.

I predicted 10 wins for BYU during the regular season, I just thought they would lose to Oklahoma and win 2 of 3 against FSU, TCU and Utah. The schedule overall was very favorable for BYU. All of the road games were gimmes and it had three of its four toughest games at home. I thought the o-line would get better through the year (it did).
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I also think it is scheme. I think the defensive alignment sought to force Utah to go long again and again. The defense did not have the bad year this year many think. Some bad moments against SDSU and the full blown abysmal Jenna Jameson full on swallow choke job against Florida State, but other than that I thought the defense played pretty well this year. Even against TCU it was the big plays that killed them!

I think you are a bit of an Eeyore. You, Mike Waters, Archie and Blueintheface need to find some testicular fortitude before next year. I recommend you all do the eco challenge!

In my eyes, BYU overachieved. I predicted 8-4 this season. They won 2 of the games I thought they were going to lose. Utah was about what I expected, I said at the start of the year they would finish 10-2 or 9-3. One of BYU's loses I predicted was against Utah so maybe Utah did underachieve then.

                        I think I had 10-2, maybe 11-1. I am a BYU homer.

The home schedule was very favorable. I had no idea TCU would be this good.

I thought Utah would be 9-3 or 10-2. So, I'm not surprised. I guess since they ended up being on the lower end of my expectation it would be fair to say that I was on the disappointed end of being content. ( )

Anyway, it's the way that Utah got to 9-3 that surprised me. I thought that Utah would be one of Oregon, TCU or BYU and lose to a team like AFA, CSU or Wyo.

I'm a bit disappointed that Utah didn't win one of the "big games" but I am pleased that they won all the games they "should have."
