    I liked the movie.

But the version we saw showed the boom mike at the top of the screen in several scenes. Very distracting. Did anyone else see this? Is this common, or did we get some weird cut that was semi-edited? Or did the Malco theatre projector dweeb screw up. Maybe he was getting some Shawshank action back there.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the full film visible on the print that the theater has includes more than is meant to be shown (though I'm not sure what the reason for this is). The theater is supposed to frame it properly, so that only the appropriate parts are showing on the screen, but occasionally this doesn't happen.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so please don't spoil it for me by mentioning whether they get Hitler or not.

I watched it in Idaho Falls last week and the boom mike was very distracting. I enjoyed the movie but the ending was predictable. I think they could have taken creative license.

My sister isn't a big Cruise fan and is a fairly tough critic--she came away liking the movie more than she expected. Nazi backdrops and settings usually film very well, so I'll probably see it, certainly on DVD if not in the theater.

That said, I enjoyed one critic who said Tom Cruise is such a dominant presence on screen that one is left to wonder subconsciously why Tom Cruise is trying to kill Hitler. The critic wrote something like, "If Tom Cruise wanted to kill Hitler with a bomb, he should have shown a cut of Vanilla Sky to the Nazi High Command. The ensuing panic as everyone rushed to the exits would likely have inflicted greater damage on the Fuhrer."
