Little note on this, by the way. When Julius Caesar died, a "star" appeared on the first day of the games celebrating his life. Scholars still aren't certain what it was-- a comet, a meteorite, who knows. The Astrum Caesaris played an important propaganda role in Augustus' rise to power, as it was generally acknowledged in the Roman world that the appearance of a new star was the sign that accompanied the apotheosis of divinity. When Caesar died, the star marked the transition from man to god; when Christ was born, it marked the condescension of God to humanity.
