Was watching some of the Iowa game this morning and caught Bob Griese commenting on who would be an at-large BCS team. His partner asked him who he thought would make it between Ok St, Iowa, and Boise St.
His reply: "You have to look at which bowl has the choice. Looking at the Fiesta Bowl, they would pick Ok. St. due to the Big 12 relationship. Iowa's a close second because of the fans they would bring."
There you have it. There is the enemy. The bogeyman is not the "BCS". The enemy is the Fiesta Bowl. And the Orange Bowl. And the Sugar Bowl. It's the bowls.
The "BCS" has actually tamed the bowls in at least a minor way from the power they had previously. At least now there's some criteria that is forced on some of them.
Everybody say this together. Repeat after me. "I HATE THE BOWLS. I HATE THE BOWLS."
The BCS is not the enemy, it's the BOWLS.
Take that IPU.
p.s. edit, I have no idea how the 12 got in that title.
