They are my National Champion. I am sending them my high school trophy for most improved player in recognition of this feat.

It is a shame that they don't get to play Oklahoma or Florida. I think those would both be great games.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostThey are my National Champion. I am sending them my high school trophy for most improved player in recognition of this feat.Get confident, stupid

I don't know when the media is going to learn that a one loss USC is better than any other one team. More unfortunate for USC is I wonder if these players start to see they are not getting their shot at national championships and start going to where they are getting shots. That or the PAC 10 starts to see the advantage of a Conference Championship Game.
All of this could go away if the AP has the balls to vote them national champion. that or my trophy could be enough.

Yeah, but are they the Atlanta Braves (or NYYs in the last five years) of NCAA football? Watching them today, and seeing once again the level of NFL ready talent they have on the field, makes their losses to OSU, Stanford and UCLA all the more inexcusable.Last edited by 8BR; 01-01-2009, 04:17 PM.

No and the comparison makes no sense to me. They don't choke in the playoffs Since there are no playoffs. They certainly don't lose bowl games. They lost one NC game in one of, if not the greatest game I have ever seen. Everyone else has a loss you can point at too. They just seem to have a higher standard put against them to make the NC game.

They have the distinct disadvantage of being a defensive power this year, and their conference was a huge liability.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostThey just seem to have a higher standard put against them to make the NC game.
Keys to making the title game: lose early and score often.

Losing the last game of the season to an unranked UCLA (with a backup QB) or at home to unranked Stanford (there was no line on the game), to me, is the equivalent of losing an early playoff series. It is choking. And it's choking that has kept them out of the BCSNCG.
Is there an unfair judgment against one loss PAC 10 teams? Yes. But it's also a given (USC knows it exists), so they need to be up for all of their conference games.

I understand your point. I just don't agree with the analogy.
