  • I hear the old refrain again,if we were a BCS

league team, we would get all the really good LDS athletes and that would take us over the hump.

To those who put forth that refrain, they tend to be the same crowd that claims they would rather lose with integrity than win without it, I would ask what LDS kids have we lost to BCS teams that BYU would have gotten and how would they have put us in say Utah's league last year or TCU's this year.

What awesome LDS DB's have we lost out to BCS schools. I know of a TE at Iowa, but our TE's aren't so bad. We lost a running back to USC, I don't know if he would have put us over the top. Not so sure he is any better than Unga.

We lost a couple of linebackers, oh wait, maybe they didn't really dig BYU's lifestyle anyway.

Really, the claim that if we were a BCS school we would get a lot more of the really good LDS athletes and that would put us over the hump is pure crap and I wish those posters were on this board so they could try and justify the crap they spew out.

To believe that BYU would get all the best LDS recruits if BYU was in a BCS conference, one has to believe that all LDS recruits want to play at BYU in the first place, but choose to go elsewhere only because of what conference BYU is in.

It's just simply not true that all LDS kids want to play at BYU and silly to even think it.

I wouldn't mind seeing what our LB position looks like with Kaveinga and Teo.

Don't forget adding Hebron Fangupo, John Martinez, and Stanley Havili to the team. Wouldn't hurt things, that's for sure.

And right about now, I wonder even if Jordan Cameron would be a step up for our receivers?

I'll take Christian Tupou and Sione Fua as my DTs running a 4-3 with Jan and William Tukuafu on the edges. Manti, Kaveinga, and Pendleton at LB. Take Simoni Lawrence who plays OLB at Minnesota and stick him at safety with Rich...but only if I lost a petition to bring back David Tafuna for another year because of medical hardship. Really, he's the key to the entire defense. I don't think Logan and Bradley would look half bad behind that front 7.

Have there been recent recruits who actually said they chose the other team because they are BCS?

Nice names you have all mentioned, but I don't think those kids hang up in coming to BYU was with BYU not being in a BCS conference.

Oh no, I agree. I was just trying to hijack your thread.

I don't think most are that forthcoming with their reasons, but I seem to remember Hamani Stevens (the brother of one of your O-lineman) saying he really wanted to play big-time Pac10 football when he was interviewed by the BYU pay site guys.

LOL, I welcome anyone posting in one of my threads whether they are hi-jacking or not. My threads aren't exactly full of posts. I think it is because I don't write good lead ins.

You also tend to beat the same drums over and over and over, like me with Max Hall or wuap with sex.

If you really want your reply count up I could start posting video responses to every new thread you start. Maybe the theme could be old people behaving foolishly.

If you would just swallow your pride and ace El Jefe's quiz, I'm pretty sure you could have some fantastic conversations with the defenders of the faith.

Just the ones I end up being right on, like:

Scheduling: Bronco ended up coming to my side.

Recruiting more non- LDS kids: Looks like that is happening.

Is it really an accomplishment to go from 98% to 99% LDS?
