  • I feel a lot better about the BYU vs New Mexico game now

Because of injuries at one point on the O-line BYU had:

Left Tackle: RS Freshman Braden Hansen
Left Guard: walk-on freshman Marco Thorson
    C: Senior RJ Willing
RG: Freshman Defensive Lineman Jordan Richardson (thats right they were that thin)
RT: Freshman Tight End Braden Brown

BYU played essentially the whole second half with a walk on freshman, a D-lineman and a tight end on the O-line. Wow. Jordan Richardson even had to go find a jersey and was wearing a number 75 jersey with no name on it.

Wow. That makes me feel better about UNM, but a lot shittier about our prospects in the remaining games. What's the status on the rest of the OL, particularly Reynolds?

How did we ever get that thin? Poor planning or just a butt load of injuries?

        Both.

In the fall we lost Jesse Taufi a projected starter to academics, Stetson Tenney (2 deep) quit the team, Houston Reynolds (2 deep) tore his acl, Jason Speredon (starter) to a season ending shoulder injury.

So we have only been traveling 7-8 lineman all year. Nick Aletto got hurt and did not play this week, and Reynolds and Terrence Brown both went down during the game with minor injuries.

The good news is everyone will be back for AFA.

What does next year's two-deep look like?

All of the starters but Willing will be back. I think we will see Houston Reynolds as the center, also Speredon will be back.

            C- Reynolds
            G- Brown, Hansen or Speredon
            T- Aletto, Reynolds

If they do not leave on missions we will have: RS freshman Ryan Mulitalo and Tui Crichton and Soph Fono Vakalahi.

Coming home from missions: Maanaki Vaitai (big time prospect) and I think both Brock Stringham and Michael Yeck will be home.

Also Thorson returns, and if Taufi can get his grades in order he will be back.

We will have a lot more depth next year and going forward. This year seems to be an aberration of sorts we lost a ton of guys to injuries and we had Tenney and Levi Mack quit the team.

Pretty sure it was Braden Brown in number 75. I happened to sit in front of him ant the Timpview/Mountain Crest state semifinal game last Thursday at RES. He told me that he had been moved from TE to tackle. His little brother Trevor is the QB for Timpview and he had a great game, including 200 yards rushing. It was hilarious to listen to Braden yell at him the entire game.

Just the team you want to play when you want to keep you O-line healthy!

Kid looks like he has a future at WR or TE. He was able to run almost at will in that game.

In the post game show Bronco said they were so thin they were looking around at the D to see who they could plug in at emergency OL but sounded like it never got to that point.

Guys. Your team looked past New Mexico. You won. The game is over. Don't stress about it.
